In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy

Albert Szent  Gyorgi,
Nobel Prize winner,.

In this workshop health professionals will receive training in an integral energy psychology which includes Qigong, symbolic process, storytelling, acu-point self touch, Gendlin’s Focusing, and modern bodymind healing psychotherapy methods. Health professionals will learn to integrate Qigong into psychotherapy without using Qigong movements, and will see how this integral energy psychology approach can help alleviate anxiety, hypertension, chronic pain, insomnia, etc. Non-health professionals will learn tools for transforming their life stance with psycho-mythological story telling methods and other pathways from Eastern and Western traditions.

This approach to energy psychology broadens the field from the traditional tapping techniques that many associate with energy psychology. It uses time-tested, age-old practices from ancient traditions in combination with well-established clinical approaches as a step toward bringing energy psychology into Western healthcare.

Dr Mayer’s integral approach to Energy Psychology includes synthesizing Bodymind Healing Qigong (2000) and Bodymind Healing Psychotherapy (2007, 2009). Each day there will be some BMHQ practice for cultivating self-healing methods. The integrative dimension of Bodymind Healing Psychotherapy involves applying these BMHQ methods to behavioral healthcare for hypertension, chronic pain, etc. The integral dimension involves using Energy Psychology without mentioning Qigong or doing Qigong movements, i.e.  using breathing methods, the River of Life guided meditation practice, acu-point self touch, and symbolic process modes of healing (such as the Mythic Journey Process). Participants will be introduced to how to apply BMHQ & BMHP into their mental health practices and they will have the personal experience and practice of these traditions.

Participants: This workshop is oriented to mental health professionals, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, social workers, counselors, ministers, psychiatric/holistic nurses, and anyone who wants to learn self-healing methods for bodymind health.
